M.I.A.

Hey guys,
I'm sorry for the horrible posting timing,
and for saying I would post things that I haven't,
but I have to go on a bit of a hiatus for now.

I'll be back for good eventually,
and I'll pop in every now and then when I get the chance,
but there's too much happening in my life right now to think.

I don't want to think.
I don't really want to do anything right now.

I'm sorry
, but I'll be back.

See you on the flip side.

Fall is.

That first breath of fall air,
that randomly hit me throughout the day today,
renews something inside of me
that's been dormant since summer started.

Don't get me wrong,
I love the summer sun,
and the beaches,
and the freckles popping out on my skin,

but it is fall I love the best.

Fall with it's crisp air
and brightly colored leaves
that herald the holidays to come.

Fall is beautiful.
Fall is magic.

Fall is here.

Guess what I'm doing?

Packing for Type-A Mom Con!

SaraSophia, my mother,
and I are headed to Asheville, NC wednesday :)

I am super super excited.

It's been so long since I've been
anywhere with "the girls",
and I SO need the vacation,
even with the mini one I just had :P

In addition to the conference,
we're touring Asheville along
with the beautiful Biltmore Estate:

It's going to be so much fun :)

Is anyone else attending?

Monday, September 14, 2009

Oh, Summer.

It was lovely,
but now it's over.

And with it, my 21st year.

Friday was my birthday (which was fantastic, btw),
and even though I've been swamped with homework,
housework, and life in general,
my lovely Superman and my darling sister
SaraSophia took me camping.

The following is a few snapshots of our night...
(created by SaraSophia)
Enjoy!

P.s. Another favorite SOON, I promise!
That is if September doesn't kill me first :P

Not-so-wordless Wednesday.

I have officially become overwhelmed.

I have TWO major exams tomorrow,
work/church tonight,
AND I haven't studied nearly as much as I need to.

Who knew school full time + a job would be so darn difficult?

I will be updating tomorrow afternoon (hopefully),
and will be replying to everyone's lovely comments then :)

Have a fantastic wednesday!

Vacations are yummy.

Summer Vacation, originally uploaded by Little Rosy Runabout.

So, lots and lots has been happening....
school, new job (nanny to three adorably silly kids) :

and now finally, I'm on vacation!
For the first time in over a year I'm in
SC at my grandmothers house and I already feel better.

Sometimes you just have to take a break, you know?

I slept the entire drive here...
I must not be getting enough sleep during the week :P
Althought I'm sure passing out at the
blood drive on Tuesday didn't help much!
(that's yet ANOTHER story for another day ;P)

Exhaustion still abounds however,
and yes, even on vacation,
I have tons of homework to do tomorrow,

so I'm think about calling it quits early tonight.

A lovely evening to all.

Favorite #6 - Urban Decay

There are so very many makeup and cosmetic companies in the world,
but
Urban Decay is hands down my favorite when it
comes to eyeshadows and eye makeup in general.

The colors and packaging are crazy cool,
and the eyeshadows last FOREVER.
Not only on your eyes, but also in the package...
I've had the pallet featured below for over a year
and have yet to use it all up.

The pigments are so rich and most have the most amazing sparkle.

Used in conjunction with the eyeshadow primer potion (their most popular item),
it lasts ALL day.
Literally.
And right now they're holding a special on their site
for a free sample of the potion with any purchase!

They also have a whole line of vegan items too!

You have to check out the entire line if you've never looked at them before.

They're to die for ;)

Jesus loves me.

So, I was trying to find something that would
sum up my current mood, and I came up with this:

What, do you ask, could possibly make me feel this way?
I'll give you one guess....
it's a three letter word that starts with J and ends with B.

THAT'S RIGHT FOLKS!
I got a job.

After three months of looking, and applying, and waiting,
something finally came through.
I'm basically going to be a nanny for a family of three adorable children.
It's exactly what I've been praying for.
It's going to totally work with school,
and it's only a few days a week and I am...well...just see above.

God is amazing.

Race to the city.

I want THAT to be the view out of my window.
I want to see THAT as I attempt to finish the
mounds of homework due IN THE MORNING.

I'm pretty sure it would make this a whole lot more fun ;)

Someday.....right Ethel?

Ok so...

Here's the deal.

School is killer this semester.
What does that mean?

It means I've been really really bad about posting,
and will probably continue to be really bad about posting
for a minute until I get this all back under control.

HOWEVER, Never fear!

More to come soon :)

For someone who's not here.

I feel so stupid sometimes.
I try so hard to make everything turn out perfectly,
that everything just ends up so very messed up.

Life.
Love.
Money.
Time.

It's all an illusion.

Is this really all we're in for?

This bit of emotional highway,
scorched and broken from years of abuse and traffic,
that ends,
so very abruptly,
at our deaths?

I don't ever intend to die.

So, I quit my job,
to seek a higher existence,

one not so caught up in formalities,
and rituals of waking and working and sleeping and eating.
I chose, and it was my own choice,
to change.

Change before the insanity ran so deep,
that I began to lose all senient thought,
get out before they take my free will,
my confidance,
and my sense of all things imagination.

I will be free,
and if you decide you do not want me then,

then so be it.

But I will live,
with you, without you,
even though they are both very different things,

I will live.

Right now,

I'm feeling a mixture of this:

and this:

I need ice cream.

Newest happy.

Guess what I got today!?

My package from Hyein at Christinas!
Firstly, I had no idea it would arrive so soon!

I gave KindOverMatter my address just a few days ago and it's already here :)

It came wrapped in tissue paper, tied with a cute striped string and little orange button.
Upon opening, I realize it's much too large to just be a notecard holder, and it was!

On top of the custom notecard holder,
(which says: there's a tough word on your crossword),
they've also sent me a steno-pad holder complete
with steno-pad, pencil,
and the cutest felt-acorn postcards I've ever seen :)

Please take a few minutes and visit Christina's on Etsy.

p.s. I apologize for the horrible picture quality...
I have yet to locate my digital camera and had to use photobooth :P

I've discovered something wonderful.

Favorite #5 - Victoria's Secret Love Spell

If you've ever tried it,
#5 on my favorites is pretty self-explanatory.

Victoria's Secret Love Spell

This stuff is like heaven in a bottle.
And 102% of men agree.

I'm addicted to the entire collection of Love Spell products.
Lotions, bubble bath, eu de parfum, body spray, hand sanitizer etc.
(now including shampoo, conditioner, and hairspray...my favorite part :P)

It's like a citrus candy scent,
but one that won't make you think of Barbie :)
And apparently, it's aptly named,
because I've yet to meet a man that doesn't adore it.

The best part is that almost 100% of the products in this line are each under $12,
so you can smell good, AND not have to break open the piggy bank to do so ;)

To him.

Thank you for letting me be the first one you call when you get bad news.

Or good news.
Or any news at all.

That means the world to me.

And I leave you with this.....

I must apologize for not posting another favorite yet...
These days are getting away from me.

School has been crazy, but good,
(Spanish is A LOT harder than you would think)
and I've been trying to stay on top of the million other things I have to do.

I WILL have another update soon, though I promise.

In the meantime, just for the fun of it,
check out the Etsy shop: Talkproof
Who's adorable happy hippos are featured above.

If they don't brighten your day,
I don't know what will :)

Can I just say....

Today is not the day to write about favorites.

Or anything for that matter.

Favorite #4 - American Apparel Hoodie

The week is almost over! *phew!*

And it's time again for another of my favorites....

American Apparel's Unisex Flex-Fleece Hoodie

These hoodies probably hit my top three favorites.
SUPER soft. Great fit.

Words really can't express the luxury of these things.
I live in them.
Winter. Summer. Fall. Spring.
They're perfect for just about any occasion
(except formal ones, of course :) but even then....lol)

They have tons of colors and sizes,
but they recommend getting a size smaller
than you think you need and I agree.
I usually wear a small, but the extra small fits me best.

This is on my list of "birthday wants" :)
(you can't have too many of them!)

If only everything were as beautiful.

if i believe
by: e.e. cummings

if i believe
in death be sure
of this
it is

because you have loved me,
moon and sunset
stars and flowers
gold creshendo and silver muting

of seatides
i trusted not,
one night
when in my fingers

drooped your shining body
when my heart
sang between your perfect
breasts

darkness and beauty of stars
was on my mouth petals danced
against my eyes
and down

the singing reaches of
my soul
spoke
the green--

greeting pale
departing irrevocable
sea
i knew thee death.

and when
i have offered up each fragrant
night,when all my days
shall have before a certain

face become
white
perfume
only,

from the ashes
then
thou wilt rise and thou
wilt come to her and brush

the mischief from her eyes and fold
her
mouth the new
flower with

thy unimaginable
wings,where dwells the breath
of all persisting stars

I've stumbled on something wonderful.

It's called SteamPunk Jewelry and it's FANTASTIC.

The girl who runs it makes the most amazing stuff.
Bracelets, necklaces, rings...even bug sculptures :)
Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Favorite #3 - L'Oreal Extra-Volume Mascara

Firstly, I just have to say, school has begun.
Thus, these posts are most likely going to be
every other day (as they have been so far :P)

With that said, let me introduce you
to #3 on my list of 15 favorites...

L'Oreal Extra-Volume Collagene Mascara

Since it's relatively new to the cosmetic scene,
I only just purchased this mascara last week,
but let me tell you...
it does it all.

It has a super-sized ergonomical brush
that separates, lengthens, darkens, volumizes with collagen,
AND catches ALL the tiny corner hairs that are so hard to grab ;)
All of that, with no clumping.

It took me two coats to get my lashes as volumized as I like them to be,
but the very best part about this mascara was that it DOES NOT flake.
I wear it all day and by the evening my lashes still look
exactly the same as they did when I put it on.
No shadows of mascara particles under my eyes to be seen.

And that, to me and to anyone else
that suffers from having chronic
dark circles to contend with, is magical.

This stuff is just as good as anything you'd spend $40-$50 on
in a department store or beauty chain, but only costs about $7.

Plus the tube itself is pretty.

I mean, what's not to like?

You know who you are.

This is for you.

Favorite #2 - Moroccan Rose Body Milk

#2 on my list is Moroccan Rose Body Milk from The Body Shop
(and my apologies for taking an extra day to post this one!)

OK, I know what you're probably thinking.

Rose scented lotion that actually smells good? Right.

ACTUALLY, it does.
Heavenly, in fact.

I'm not really a floral sort of person,
(my sister Looler says that there are
three types of people in the world...
floral, fruity, and cookie.
Guess which one I am? :P)
but this body milk is simply beautiful.

It smells like actual roses for a change,
because it has actual rose oil in it.
It makes your skin fantastically soft
without being greasy because it's mostly lotion.

And the best part.....it's ORGANIC :)
The Body Shop also supports community trade
and they're against animal testing!

They also have several other products in the same scent like too.
You should definitely look into this one.

I just have to say....

Good job on your choice of bedtime reading, kiddo.
Now I get to go to sleep thoroughly depressed.

How exciting.

ALSO, did I forget to post a favorite thing today?
Blogger isn't telling me what I need to know.

The Great Wunderkammer

There are few things in life I get super excited about...
but this giveaway just happens to be one of them.

FILLED will 7 different items (with a twist),
all unique and well....Wunderful.
Here are just two of the items up for grabs....

this custom drawstring bustle skirt,

AND, my personal favorite,
the gear necklace,

Click on either of the above pictures
to view the entire giveaway,
or simply click here to visit TotusMel's Wunderkammer.

Alls well that ends well.

Today was spent doing absolutely nothing.

I DID however, shower :)
and I watched lots of TV and internet shows with Superman,

ate way too much food,

and stayed in my room the majority of the day.

Except for the excursion to Starbucks to pick up an application.

Looler said she spoke with her manager and they just might have a job for me!

This is a good thing.

And thus ends the second to last day before my vacation is over...

tomorrow is the last morning I have to sleep in for a WHILE.

I can tell you right now, I will thoroughly enjoy it.

And hopefully tomorrow afternoon SaraSophia and I
can get the tutu finished we've been working on for a client
to deliver tomorrow night :P

But now, I must sleep.
Seeing as how it's already LATE LATE LATE.

Or early. Depending on how you look at it.

Zazu Cake Shop Skirt Giveaway

Ok, so, no.
I don't have any babies.

But what I do have is an adorable niece.
An adorable niece who would look even MORE adorable in this skirt.

Rae Gun Ramblings is giving away this fantastic skirt
they call the Zazu Cake Shop Skirt.
The size is just perfect for someone of Pixie's stature.

Christmas present anyone?

Day #1 - LUSH Blackberry Bath Bomb

When I decided to do the 15 days of my favorite things,
the very first thing that popped into my head was LUSH Cosmetics.

Roughly four years ago I came across this amazing company,
and to this day, I'm still not sure how I actually discovered them,
(I'm pretty sure it was in a magazine somewhere, but who knows :P)

but I DO know that they are definitely in my top five favorite companies EVER.
My sisters and I are thoroughly addicted to all of their products,
but there is one item that makes m
y list of 15 favorites...

LUSH calls this an "uplifting berry burst of goodness" and that's EXACTLY what it is.
For those of you who don't know what a bath bomb is,
it's a delightful little ball of fizz that you drop into your bath
to not only scent the bathwater,
but also contains skin softeners that, in the case of LUSH, really do work!
This one turns the water a beautiful purple, and makes your skin so soft.
You'll also step out of the bath smelling so good
you won't be able to stop sniffing yourself :P
Your clothes will smell good, your bathroom will smell good...
I just can't tell you enough how freaking amazing this bath bomb smells.
I go so far as to put these in my underwear drawer before I use them :P

You simply must click on any of the pictures above,
and order one for yourself.

You won't be disappointed :)

If you want to be a pirate, get up on your feet.

I was trying to think of a way to integrate some reviews of my favorite things into my blog, and somehow commit myself to posting here more often. I know when I have something to say, the words come easily enough, but I generally tend to go weeks in between postings because I just can't think of something I want to say that would be worth taking the time to talk about.

SO, in light of all of that, I've decided to kick start my blog a bit more than I already have, by doing a little thing I've decided to call "15 Days of My Favorite Things". Basically, I'm going to take 15 days and on each day, let you all know about something I personally love in the cosmetic/beauty industry, and why said thing is worth your time to try it out. Be it makeup, cosmetics, or even clothing and shoes, I want to let all of you know about some of the wonderful things I've come across in my years of addiction to all things beautiful :)

Keep an eye out tomorrow (or the next day :P) for the very first entry!
